Padnal Bank, Prickwillow

Padnal Bank, Prickwillow Padnal Bank is the Padnal Fen bank of the River Lark, Prickwillow. The River Lark flows from Bury St Edmunds and meets the River Great Ouse just below Prickwillow.

The site comprised an unsalvageable 1950's bungalow with a broken back coupled with a 1980's built annex.

The project plan for this site was to demolish the bungalow and build a two storey house.  The main structure was piled and the elevations constructed of insulated concrete formers under a reclaimed clay tile roof.  The structure has been clad in larch.

Padnal Fen is in a flood plain and in recent years, much has been made of global warming and flooding, specifically in flood plains. Our design team have addressed the possibilities of flooding and employed specialist engineers to provide a flood risk assessment. The risk on this site is minimal, however, our design has taken all risks and responsibilities into consideration and specifications and levels will be met accordingly.
